As an owner of VASER LipoSelection technology, it is essential to take some form of training – whether it is a course in the basics, advanced full body and fat transfer, or Hi-Def for the most skilled of surgeons. The learning curve for this technology is extremely high, to the point where trial and error procedures will result in ethical and legal chaos.

To successfully utilize the advanced lipoplasty technology of the VASER machine, you will need an in-depth understanding of lipolysis, at the very least. An elementary knowledge of “de-bulking” with old fashioned liposuction techniques is ineffectual when applied to anatomical sculpting with VASER. You also need an advanced understanding of the anatomical structures of adipose and dermis tissues, as well as rigorous training with the complex VASER technology. The power of the VASER machine is not to be underestimated... mastering its power is more art than science.

All courses are facilitated by board certified physicians with many years of lipolysis practice. The latest advancements in ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty and laser lipoplasty technology are included in the courses.

As is true with all IC:ABS courses, we prefer the student travels to the Bogota International Center or one of our satellite centers and utilizes our state-of-the-art center and equipment. 2004 ASPS Patient Safety Committee Practice Advisory Regulations
The ASPS Committee on Patient Safety in April, 2004 recognized the serious consequences of physicians practicing liposuction without rigorous, professional training. They published the “Practice Advisory on Liposuction” in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journal, outlining training requirements and guidelines for patient safety. History of VASER Hi-Def

Despite advancements in medical technology, traditional liposuction procedures have not progressed much in the past thirty years. They are, instead, still primitive, painful, and unnatural methods for anatomical improvement.

When ultrasound assisted lipoplasty (UAL) was invented, the technology was still inefficient for human application. The original solid probes successfully emulsified adipose tissue layers resulting in less traumatic procedures; however, the original design of the probe utilized high energy concentrated on the front surface of the tip, consequently generating too much heat energy. The result was scarring, dermis burn sites, and increased post-operation complications. The revolutionary discovery despite complications and necrosis of UAL was that emulsifying fat before suctioned removal was far easier for the physician and much less traumatic for the patient, leading to decreased bruising, swelling, and recovery time.

The veiled success of the original UAL adipose emulsion technique was the ancient predecessor to the VASER Hi-Def technique. LipoSelection was discovered by one Dr. Zocchi in 1999. UAL lead to the development of Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance (VASER) technology.

The new generation of VASER ultrasonic probes have made dramatic improvements on the original UAL technologies. VASER probes distribute heat energy around the tip and on the front surface, allowing for greater physician control and sculpting in delicate regions. VASER uses full, continuous energy for de-bulking areas of fat, and has a lower power, pulsed mode for more delicate areas. Other types of probes were also developed and evolved from the standard, solid probe. By using 0, 1, 2, and 3 grooved probes, the physician can specify his tools for different types of tissue and varying levels of energy output. As the grooves increased in number, so does the energy decrease, making the three-grooved probe ideal for softer tissues and areas closer to the dermis, while zero- or one-grooved probes are ideal for fibrous tissues that require extra energy.

The VASER technology  is similar to its predecessor UAL in that it leaves connective tissues, nerves, and delicate blood vessels largely undisturbed. This reduces post-operation complications, recovery time, and physician exhaustion. When structural tissues are left undamaged, the results are smooth and relatively painless.

That was where the highly talented and innovative Colombian plastic surgeon, Dr. Alfredo Hoyos, M.D., stepped in. In 2002, Dr. Hoyos revolutionized nearly 100 years of painful, primitive liposuction techniques and pioneered the VASER Assisted High Definition LipoSculpture technique.

As a sculptor and patron of the arts, Dr. Hoyos knew that there had to be more to plastic surgery than the traditional, painful inserting and sucking procedure. He knew there had to be a more graceful art form underneath all the stigma and static. By ceaselessly studying his craft and using the advanced VASER LipoSelection machine, he discovered a technique that allowed him to literally sculpt the human anatomy, rather than suck away all that was beautiful about it.

Hi-Def Arm Procedure
Rippling, masculine biceps... toned, feminine contours...

A pair of strong, toned arms have long been indicators of athleticism and fitness, second only to defined abdominal muscles. Without shapely arms to accent a set of six-pack abs, there is no definition of an individual's overall fitness.

The Hi-Def arm procedure is meant for both male and female patients who desire definitive, athletic curves in their arms. After being trained in the VASER Hi-Def technique and technology, surgeons can perform volumetric reductions in the arms, as well as use contouring techniques to specially define the bicipital, tricipital, and deltoid muscles. Hi-Def Male
The typical male has muscle mass in his arms, but is lacking in definition of the muscle; overall, his arms appear fat. Athletic arms are essential to a fit, manly frame. Men with six-pack abs but no biceps to go with them look oddly proportioned and fake. The goal of the VASER Hi-Def arm procedure is to use the volume that is already present, but sculpt away the overlying adipose tissues, revealing the strong bicipital, tricipital, and deltoid bulges. Hi-Def Female
The ideal female arm is meant to look contoured and fit, but never bulging or overly defined; curved, never rippling. The Procedure
1. Marking
                The physician measures the circumference of the medial arm when held aloft at an obtuse angle from the shoulder.             The amount of medial fatty tissue is determined and markings for removal are made.
2. Infiltration
                3-4 millimeter incisions are made carefully in the anterior axillary fold to avoid the ulnary nerve. Care is taken to             avoid major veins and nerves.
3. VASER Emulsification

VASER Full Body Procedure
The VASER LipoSelection technique is especially effective for attacking all problem parts of the anatomy, with more applications continuously being developed. The Full Body procedure with VASER requires all of the fundamentals of basic VASER, applied carefully to extensive anatomical regions.

When moving into advanced areas of the body, special care must be taken by the surgeon to sculpt away the exact amount of fat and inject the exact amount back in, otherwise successful post-operative results may eventually turn into a drooping, sagging failure. This is most common in the thighs, where a variety of anatomical fat – deep and superficial, with very little intermediate fats – can cause deformities if the surgeon is not careful. Similarly, adding too much fat to the buttocks can lead to an initially perky result, but little remaining supporting tissue in the posterior thigh will let the buttocks drop and sag.

So long as the surgeon is highly trained, experienced, and very careful, there are very few places that the VASER technology cannot be applied...
